Although I became Manager of Church View about two years ago, I’m a learning disability trained nurse with many years’ experience of managing residential services for people with complex needs, both within the NHS and the private sector. I’ve previously opened and managed homes in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
I believe that every individual has the right to develop and grow to reach his or her potential and this applies to staff as well as those in our care. To this end, I try to set an example at Church View. Together we ensure all our residents receive the support they need to achieve mutually agreed, person-centred goals and we work with each individual to develop their unique support and development plan. No plan is ever written in stone, however; each is designed to enable change and growth as the individual changes and grows.
Church View is very much the home of all those who live there and we encourage our residents to be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the home, promoting choice and decision- making. We work very much as a team, both individuals and supporting staff, and we all take pride in the homely, relaxed atmosphere we have created at Church View.
