Steve Leavis

With over 35 years of management experience, my career in the adult Health and Social Care arena began as a Support Worker, progressing first to Team Leader, then to Support Manager and, most recently, to become a Registered Manager at Advanced Caring (Doncaster) Limited . Throughout my work in care and support, I have had the privilege of supporting many people with Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and associated complex support needs. I have a wide ranging experience of supporting tenants in their own homes and in a day care setting.

My knowledge, skills and experience have allowed me to establish and develop teams of Support Workers and to mentor them so that they effectively deliver a first class bespoke and person centred support service. With this foundation I have had key roles in setting up three new supported living settings. In every single instance, the tenants have greatly increased their independent living skills. This hasn’t been without it challenges and it’s these challenges that I relish most.

My passion for helping these exceptional people to improve their independent living skills through choices, that they have made themselves, hasn’t waivered and I still enjoy the thrill of being able to see them achieve their aims and have their personal wins, however small they may seem to us.

Ultimately, my key driver is to get to know what makes people tick. In the case of staff, to coach and develop them to be the best Support Worker or Service Leader possible and making sure that they fully embrace the Company’s values based work ethos. For tenants, there is nothing more rewarding than building that rapport and seeing their transformation into people with ever increasing independence. Nothing beats the buzz of celebrating successes be it the tenant’s or the team’s behind them.
